The lindy live bait jig tipped with a shiner is my #1 go to bait for early season mille lacs walleye fishing.  If there is some wind get on the wind swept shoreline or over a shallow rock reef in 6 - 12 feet of water and this technique  is deadly.

If the big pond lays flat and the sun comes out then it’s time to switch gears to lindy rigs with leeches or minnows. Early season the water is clear and the fish are easily spooked. So the 50th anniversary lindy rig with a 10ft fluorocarbon leader and the smaller #6 size hook is perfect for these conditions this time of year.
