Mid July report

Writer's picture: Pat BurchPat Burch

Fishing this week has been a little more up and down. The walleye bite this week has been good early in the morning but then really slowed for us after lunch time. Most trips right now we spend our morning portion walleye fishing and then after lunch pursue smallmouth bass to round out the day.

Walleye early are in top edge of flats and structure around 21ft then as day goes on and sun gets higher they start to slide out into the deeper water

Bigger bass are out on some of the big deeper boulders and you have to work them awhile with a drop shot to get them to bite. Lots of the 2 pounder bass are still roaming in those 6-10ft areas with an occasional better one in the mix. You can catch those pretty steady throwing a ned rig around
